The club’s home at 48 West Main Street in Mount Jewett. We meet here the fourth Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.


Congratulations to Allen Claypool of Indiana, PA, the winner of our e-bike raffle. Allen (left) is shown being congratulated by Ron Keim, MJ2KB Vice President. Ed Housler of Lantz Corners won the $100 Nittany MinitMart gift card that the club sold tickets for at the Kinzua Bridge Fall Festival. Thanks to all who took a chance on these items. The proceeds go toward maintaining our section of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail.

Don’t forget that it’s now hunting season here in Pennsylvania. For your safety, please be sure to wear at least one item of high-visibility clothing while out on the trail.


Important information:
Kinzua Bridge State Park Skywalk rehabilitation project

Please note that while work on the bridge is occurring, users cannot go to the very end of the trail at the Skywalk. The northernmost trail access point now is onto the park road near the entrance to the overflow parking area. Visit the park’s website for updates. You can also click on the image at right for a downloadable/printable version of the information sheet.

Attention off-road vehicle operators!

Side-by-sides, four-wheelers and dirt bikes are NOT PERMITTED on any portion of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail. The MJ2KB section of the trail is under camera surveillance. If we identify you from a photo or video, we have the option to turn this information over to the Pennsylvania State Police for prosecution. Vehicle use damages the trail surface and endangers other users. Thank you for your cooperation!

Who can use the Knox & Kane Rail Trail between the Kinzua Bridge State Park and Lantz Corners? SEE PICTURES ABOVE. Walkers/hikers, Disabled persons with or without motorized mobility aids, bicyclists and e-bikes (not to exceed a 36-inch maximum width and maximum speed of 10 mph; class 1 e-bikes - 750W, 1hp), joggers/runners, equestrians and also skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers (max speed limit - 25 mph) during snowy times of the year. PETS ON THE RAIL TRAIL

- Please keep dogs on a leash for their safety and the safety of other trail users.

ADOPT A SECTION OF RAIL TRAIL: The Trail Club Allows trail users an opportunity to adopt sections of the Knox & Kane rail trail (from Lantz Corners to the Kinzua Bridge State Park). We will sign you up for your preferred section of trail, and you will be responsible for light maintenance of that portion of rail trail. If you or your family has donated benches, you may like to make their location your adopted area. You may plant flowers, bulbs, and decorate around your bench. We prefer you become a trail club member, so that you are covered under our insurance for doing any type of maintenance on the rail trail. (See below for membership forms)

FUND RAISERS - PLEASE SUPPORT OUR TRAIL CLUB

Our current FUNDRAISERS are: Selling T-shirts, Decals, Walking Sticks, DVDs, Face Masks & Memberships.

The Trail Club is currently looking to update our Tshirt Design. If you would like to submit a drawing or picture to the trail club with your idea you can either come to a meeting (4th Thursday of each month @ 7:00 (Mt Jewett Memorial Library) or mail your design to PO Box 277, Mt Jewett PA 16740.

WALKING STICKS FOR SALE. Made by Jack Forquer Cost -- $40. Proceeds go to our trail club for trail maintenance.

WHEN THE KNOX & KANE RAIL TRAIL IS COMPLETELY DEVELOPED, IT WILL BE 73.8 MILES OF ADVENTURE FROM CLARION COUNTY TO MCKEAN COUNTY. SOME SECTIONS ALLOW EQUESTRIANS, SOME ALLOW SNOWMOBILES. PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLISTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE ENTIRE KNOX & KANE RAIL TRAIL CORRIDOR.

2024 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Every year I am always amazed how many accomplishments our volunteers make on our section of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail. At the beginning of 2023 we applied for the title of Pennsylvania’s Trail of the Year and we were awarded that title! This is all because of the great lengths our trail club volunteers have taken to make our 8 mile section of the KKRT the best in McKean County. Along with the Pennsylvania’s 2023 Trail of the Year award, we received $5000 from a grant through We Conserve PA & DCNR. With these funds, we purchased first aid kits & chain saws for our trail club and 2 other local trail clubs along with First Aid & Sawyer Trainings. Here are more of our 2023 accomplishments:

This year, the club had a large pavilion/shelter built near the Kinzua Bridge State Park's Skywalk (funding in part by the McKean County Community Foundation, the McKean County Commissioners (Act 13 funds) and the Wolf Creek Race Management group that holds their annual Kinzua Half Marathon running race on our section of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail each July.

We added a wild flower (pollinator) garden adjacent to the pavilion on Hacker St in Mt Jewett along with a “Horse Tie Out”. This area will be the future “connection” with the Kinzua Valley Trail Club, that will be coming up the hill from Guffey to connect with the Knox & Kane Rail Trail.

We also received funding from Seneca Resources to purchase a new "pull behind" mower which helps in keeping the trail in prime condition for you, our trail users!. 

Our big fundraiser event was held in September where we sold our famous “Hot Dog Combos” near the Kinzua Bridge State Park’s Skywalk. Again, thanks to volunteers, we were able to raise money that goes towards trail & equipment maintenance.

We also purchased a used storage container prior to the end of the year to hold additional equipment & supplies.

We reached my goal of 80+ memberships in 2023 and I’m raising that goal to 100 in 2024!! You can help achieve this goal by finding the membership form on this website & sending it in now!!

I want to thank the Board of Directors for their support and diligent work to make our trail and trail club the greatest in the county! But most of all, it is the contributions and support of all the trail club members, municipalities and businesses in our area that help keep the trail what it is today. So you can see, besides receiving Pennsylvania's 2023 Trail of the Year award, we have had an all ‘round great year!!
